They are likely sociable animals, as the only ones seen were the trio in Ba Sing Se. These cat-sized, extremely muscular panthers roam in packs and other animals avoid them at all costs. They can be found in the Lower Ring of Ba Sing Se, where the poverty of the district has allowed them to remain, unregulated. Living in Ba Sing Se has well altered them to the urban environment, moulding their skill as hunters to the city habitat; they are able to scale walls, fences and other structures as well as leap from architecture to construction in the blink of an eye. They can be quite ferocious; and their sharp cacts and teeth will do some serious hurt. At other times, Pygmy Pumas seem to be quite affectionate.
